A 21 inch LCD TV – A Versatile Mid-Range Size,tv plasma, television, lcd, lcd television, liquid crystal display television

Some consumers consider a 21 inch TV LCD perfect size: for TV viewing and for use as a computer monitor. Some take it a step further: they integrate their 21 "TV LCD home theater PC. It's easier than you think, and home theater PC setup lets you access media files such as digital image files, audio and video. You can also watch your favorite TV show or DVD, although you can use a TV 21 "LCD as a computer monitor. No wonder, then, that some consumers think TV 21 "LCD screen size is one of the most versatile.

If you watch digital TV on your TV 21 "LCD, you can take advantage of the possibilities of digital video recorders (DVR) or TiVo. You can go one step further to include its 21 inch LCD TV with PC configuration for home theater is the ultimate in flexibility. It is not hard - here are some ways you can use.

1. Buy a PC with Media Center version of Windows XP and make sure you have a TV tuner card ability to take the digital signal from your cable box or satellite. Once installed, works like a DVR. No need to buy high-end PC to integrate with your TV 21 inch LCD, if you want to record and play shows and movies - if you also want to play video games graphics intensive, you may need to become PC more expensive with additional graphics. Make sure you have plenty of memory.

2. Update your PC. You can buy a copy of Microsoft Media Center operating system. It usually comes with a TV tuner card you need. If you have decent computer skills who can handle the installation is very easy and the 21 inch LCD TV home theater PC setup running in no time.

3. If you do not want to upgrade to a new operating system, a series of business software applications that perform the same tasks that Media Center does not. Some are available as freeware, but the features they offer are rather limited. You still have to consider the cost of a TV tuner card - TV tuner card is not included with free software.

Once you decide how to configure your computer, you can incorporate into your home theater system for your TV 21 "LCD can handle streaming video for delivery. A 21 "unit is ideal for this purpose, a wider range of sometimes provides image quality is reduced when the TV signal is sent by the computer.

How to send a signal to the TV is the main obstacle to overcome. There are a variety of audio and video options for joining the two, the path you choose will obviously depend on the inputs and outputs available on the PC and the TV. Older, standard-definition LCD TV will have at least composite video connection (yellow video connection that is usually accompanied by red and white stereo audio jacks). Hopefully, it also provides S-Video port. 21 "LCD TV should provide inputs, and the most advanced 21" LCD TV HDTV capable DVI or HDMI input source. If you have not bought a TV 21 "LCD, however, try to find a model with DVI or HDMI.

When the computer is connected to your TV 21 "Media Center can be used to monitor and manage your media needs of your DVR to record. If you want to record TV without using Media Center, similar products on the market that can do the job. For example, the SnapStream Beyond TV comes bundled with many TV tuner cards, so if you are building a home theater or upgrading your existing equipment may end up with a copy by default. And you can go one step further and add the program beyond the media to organize photos, music and other media files, and most of what Media Center does not. Besides the TV is not compatible with any TV tuner card market in order to check the hardware specifications for TV 21 "LCD before installing.

Even if you are interested in the program to record TV programs, you can use programs like Windows Media Player, iTunes, and PowerDVD to manage pre-existing library of media you are using the software have.

Whatever option you choose, make sure you have plenty of disk space, once you start recording TV shows or watching videos on your TV 21 "LCD, you need space, you can get. And because of greater flexibility, you'll find your 21 inch LCD TV is part of a larger than your home entertainment system.

A Quick Review,system,machine,integrated,AcerAspire,acerlaptop,acercomputers,wlci,computer,laptop,aspire wlci,acer aspire,quick review,new laptop

I recently discovered acer aspire the need for a new laptop. With a modest budget and needs, I know I can easily find products that will do what I want and still be in my price range.

As a network technician and web designer, I need a machine with enough storage space to store all of my software projects for my clients and still be able to handle the backup while the occasional machine customer's operating system. Candidates who qualify must also have a decent amount of RAM and a processor fast enough to keep up with the demands of multitasking and using Studio MX '04 every day.

At first, I checked the auction sites, retail outlets and wholesale warehouses renovated. I found some good bargains for less than $ 500, but no one can handle the load process of Studio MX 2004 to make it. Average engine, 256 MB of PC133 RAM, 20 GB hard drive and 1.0 GHz Pentium processor. Not bad for student machines, but for daily service in the field of work, not enough space or the energy to keep up with my needs.

I soon realized that the new laptop is required to meet my needs. Realizing that most laptops are worth the price over $ 1000, not expecting much when I started shopping around. However, to my surprise, local retailers have a special performance on Acer Aspire 3004WLCi $ 600 after rebate of $ 150. It was above my budget, but the specs are much better than I thought I would find the range of prices.

Microsoft Windows XP Home SP2

Well, before going into the pros and cons of this system, first of all let me say this ... As a network technician, I feel a little strange for Acer products. I've seen them before, but I already drink. In an industry dominated by Dell and HP, Acer is more like a "no brand" for me. With this in mind, do not expect most of my money. Fortunately, I was not disappointed, but that's not completely wrong.

Also, it should be mentioned that prior to using this machine, XP Home to XP Professional SP2 wrecked and I went through the system and make minor changes to some of the performance of operating system software, all of which can be made using the original Windows XP Pro utility.

Pro :

Acer Aspire 3004 WLCi is strong enough for $ 600. Although the original $ 750, the system is hard to beat the performance of department. Sempron 3100 + processor is quite fast and competent. Drive is running Dreamweaver MX 2004, Fireworks MX 2004, Microsoft Word 2003, Microsoft OneNote 2003, Firefox 1.5, Internet Explorer 6.0, Opera 8.5, the size of the browser, CPick, Java JRE, NOD32 Anti-Virus, Hotmail Popper, and services of different systems and utilities running in the background under the same time and not complain or not acceptable sustained peak CPU utilization. This is due in part to the generous 512MB of DDR333 RAM and fast, but nevertheless shocked by the user processors from AMD for a long time.

The 60GB hard drive provides enough storage for the average user. It is located at the bottom of my needs, but large enough to hold all the software installed, more than 12GB of software services required for service calls, all projects of my clients, and still have enough space to easily hold 20 GB of system backup client.

The system also has a very good driver Broadcom WiFi. In my house with 3 floors, with excellent isolation, the system can be used anywhere in my house with signal strength "Very Good" to "excellent."

The system is designed ergonomically. I have a great big hand, and the latest laptops entirely too small for me to use realistic for an extended period of time. Usually within 20-30 minutes, wrists and hands started to hurt as it tries to maintain a reasonable position for the type of document I was working. Not so in pursuit 3000. This laptop has a relatively large chassis with a keyboard that is almost perfect for someone with large hands. In fact, I find that I can write so fast (around 35wpm) laptop on my desktop system has an ergonomic split keyboard (40wpm).

Cons:

If you are looking for a multimedia system, or if you make a graphic intensive game, keep searching, the system is not for you. Even with WXGA wide screen, this machine is perfect for watching movies on DVD. Integrated video controller can receive and monitor requires a lot of "play" to find the "right" viewing position. In addition, the brightness of the unit are horrible. I think that most rooms lit'm spending more time tiring the eyes to see beyond my own shadow. In addition, the angle of view is wonderful. If you try to view the screen from more than 15 degrees in all directions, or find a washing or negative variations from the original. I was never a big fan of LCD. I always thought that high-quality CRT always looks better, but the screen is reminiscent of an LCD screen three years of the new product.

Combined audio and video drivers sick place like a well-defined. I always prefer the driver of expansion in embedded controllers, but the price range, I knew I'd be glued to the modest quality of an integrated controller. No surprise here. As usual, the quality and performance under typical with this driver, but for my needs, do the job. However, if you plan to listen to any audio playback on a computer is better than a pack of build quality headphones. The tiny speakers on this machine is a terrible sound. Again, a big surprise.

Now, about the battery life. I do not know who is responsible for the interpretation of aspects of this machine, but need to check the neck up. Battery performance of this machine is really not acceptable. Unless you customize the system significantly, it is impossible to remove more than one hour of real time using the battery system. Stating that a manufacturer will run 1.5 hours on battery. I do not get more than an hour outside of the unit. In this day and age, it is not acceptable. Fortunately, there are very few occasions when I use the system that I'm not near a power outlet.

My only complaint is the lack of another major upgrade of the system. You get two slots for memory cards Sodima (256MBx2 whole stick from the factory), three USB 2.0 ports and a PCMCIA Type II slot machines, and that's all. There is no possibility of internal expansion, firewire, no serial or parallel connections, and can be interchanged easily integrated unit. Given the price range of this system, I'm really not surprised, but apparently I failed. Fortunately, there are many USB adapters are available that allow me to do.

Summary:

If you just need a simple system for activities related to work or school on Acer Aspire 3004WLCi is a solid player that can handle the average use easily. I would definitely recommend this unit for students or professionals who need to travel cheap, easy to use laptops, but do not use your laptop battery too often, or do not intend to play many games or movies. For the price conscious consumer out there, this system is definitely worth the money. In my opinion, you get more than you pay for, but not much.

Summary:

If you just need a basic system for work or school related tasks the Acer Aspire 3004WLCi is a solid performer that can handle average use with ease. I would definitely recommend this unit to college students or traveling professionals who need an inexpensive, user-friendly laptop, but who do not plan on using their laptop on batteries very often, or who do not intend on playing many games or movies. For the price conscious consumers out there, this system is definitely worth the money.

What makes Toshiba Laptops so good?

Word Count:

Summary:

Toshiba laptops have a well-deserved reputation for being some of the best laptops in the world. But what makes them so good?

Keywords:

Toshiba, Laptops, Technology

Article Body:

Toshiba laptops have a well-deserved reputation for being some of the best laptops in the world. But what makes them so good?

Well, first of all, Toshiba laptops are very sturdily built. If you drop one, it won’t usually break, nor will they break through normal wear and tear like cheap Dells can – Toshibas don’t get cracked cases and have keys fall off the keyboard, and if they ever did then Toshiba would fix it very quickly. This high build quality is important to people who will have their laptop for a long time, as well as people who travel around a lot with their laptops and so need to take them as luggage on planes.

Secondly, Toshiba laptops are very light. Again, this is important to travellers, but it is also important to people who are just using their laptop normally, carrying it from home to their office or simply perching it on their lap at home. Heavy laptops can be a real pain, making it feel like an effort to pick up the computer and quickly check or alter something, while light ones are far more practical.

However, as with other Japanese-made laptops, this extra sturdiness and ultra-light weight comes with a price. Toshiba laptops can be up to 50% more expensive than the cheapest models on the market with the same processor, RAM and so on, simply due to the cost of the better build quality and having to pay Japanese workers’ salaries. Computing tends to be a race to the bottom, with the cheapest computers gaining the largest market share, which leaves Toshiba courting the more computer-savvy buyers who really need a high-quality laptop for their work. If you do rely on your laptop for anything, though, you would do well to see the extra cost as an investment and consider getting a Toshiba, or a similar high-quality laptop.

Where to buy a good Sony Laptop

Word Count:

305

Summary:

If you’ve decided that you want a Sony laptop, then good for you – some of them really are very good.

Keywords:

sony, laptops, VAIO

Article Body:

If you’ve decided that you want a Sony laptop, then good for you – some of them really are very good. Unfortunately, the good ones also tend to be dazzlingly expensive, which is why you’re probably looking for ways of getting that laptop a little cheaper. Here are a few suggestions.

If you live near a Sony Store, then they are probably one of the best places to get cheap Sony laptops. Not only are you buying directly from the manufacturer, cutting out a few middlemen in between, but you will often find that they have a good selection of special offers on slightly older models and refurbished laptops – unless you always need the latest leading-edge technology, you’ll often find that these models are perfectly good.

If there’s no Sony Store around, try your local independent computer shop. These shops are often very good at giving impartial advice about all the different models available, and won’t overcharge you massively like the high street and big-box computer retailers like to do. If you’re lucky, you might find that they have a used or reduced Sony laptop, or know where to get one.

Another thing to try is looking online at auction sites such as eBay. Used laptops there can be very cheap indeed, and as good Sony laptops are so hard-wearing there is usually no reason not to buy them used. However, do be careful not to fall for any eBay scams when buying something as expensive as a laptop – always check the description carefully, and read up on eBay works if you’re ever unsure about an offer you see (use eBay’s own ‘Help’ button). And whatever you do, never pay for laptops by Western Union wire transfer, as the moment you do that, your money is gone forever.

Reviews Samsung BD-C6900 (3D Blu-ray Disc Player)

Samsung BD-C6900

Before talking about this product I would like to make assumptions about technology, as we now have a similar product, what has changed since 20 years now.

I remember the old VHS video recorder, I remember those two heads, those heads 4 and 6 were the best stereo head, from then there was the advent of SVHS, which allowed to have a higher definition image .
Then in early 2000 arrival on DVD, which took 10 years to this part of several innovations, first of all remember when it came out that the cost was too high, I believe it cost around one million old lira and a half, then according to strong market demand, began to produce different makes and begin to lower the price becomes affordable, I remember around 500 000 old francs.

This product has been a lot of changes, in fact the first thing he asked was to read burned DVDs, then read the CD, then that read MP3 and WMA files, while the increase was directly proportional to the functions size, in fact, more functions were part became smaller and the size of the player, another feature that was required was that the player output 5.1, so that they can handle without using a Home Cinema amplifier.
But the real boom came with the introduction of the Divx format, this format allows you to be downloaded from the Internet, few words were all the recent movies in Divx format, have a player that could read this format allows you to enjoy at home a great film.

Another innovation was undoubtedly the introduction of the player’s USB port, this enabled them to avoid to save the Divx disc, but to be able to download in pendrive and see it comfortably at night in your TV, the USB port and enables vision film also allowed viewing photos and listening to music files.
Now the famous DVD player, as is seen in 10 years fell by exorbitant price when you consider that the first player was huge and weighed a damn DVD read only original but also cost a huge amount of one million and a half old pounds, while today a DVD player that reads burned DVDs, music CDs, MP3, WMA, JPEG photos, Divx, which has the USB port, which in turn reads all the formats mentioned, and also has 5.1 output, it quietly buys Chinese brand in the pamphlets of the most popular chains of 19Euro appliances, and brand mean Philips, Sony, Sharp or Samsung for less than 50 euros, a decline would say incredible price for 10 years now.

I wanted you all this background to speak of Blu Ray.
Now in old DVD format has a MPEG-2 and its support does not exceed 4.7 GB, now Blu Ray has a capacity of up to 50 GB, and its codec is the MPEG-4 AVC or Windows Media Video 9, which is faster than twice that of traditional DVDs.
In addition, a DVD or send low resolution of 720 horizontal lines per 520 vertical, and a Blu Ray broadcasts in full HD resolution or high definition resolution or 1920×1080, which is 1920 horizontal lines by 520 vertical.

The Blu Ray is a Sony invention, and was introduced in the market through the introduction of Play Station 3, said that the Blu Ray recently had a further evolution has become Blu Ray 3D Italian third dimension.
Indeed, the strong demand already in the cinema with the film that led the 3D, Avatar, or, to the fact that even in Italian homes could take advantage of that technology.
Many do not know it yet, but Samsung and Sony have a joint venture in the world, in fact, Samsung produces LCD panels and now led by Sony, while Sony’s DVD players and produces just Blu Ray.

Precisely for this reason I want to say that the first player to arrive in America and Italy was the Samsung BD C6900, which is the product that I am going to review my apologies if I was a bit ‘wordy in my introduction.
This player looks very nice aesthetically, but its design is typical of Samsung’s innovative and original products.

The video quality is exceptional, I hooked up with the 8000 series of Samsung and I must say that when I see a film in 3D, the feeling is disarming I seem to be in the film.
The video quality is exceptional even in 2D, I connected with Quattrone Sharp stands out a lot and I must say that all four colors, also the detail is exceptional.

Great are the auxiliary functions of this player as a USB port that allows you to video record the movie you’re watching or you can also program, the Wi-Fi technology allows internet browsing without the key Samsung and other costs 60euro, navigation total, but not useful on other platforms, which are updated periodically, such as YouTube and facebook.
As can be seen from the site this reader as well as read Blu Ray, DVD, and also reads MP3, DivX, HD DivX, JPEG, JPEG HD, MKV, or AVCHD, are also useful to the famous DivX HD, that are downloaded from the Internet, are of high quality DivX, and not as mediocre as most of Divx.

Be careful not to make the mistake of linking this with an HDMI cable any player, in fact need to have the 3D cable HDMI 1.4.
Screen Fit is very useful function that eliminates the black bars of the film transforms 21:9 to 16:9.

Certainly the first star to attach the “DESIGN” modern innovation, research and a little bulky.

I attach a second star for the “quality ‘” of course I can not say until now have tried a lot of Blu Ray, because even with what they cost, not my business potential, but I can tell you with certainty that this is the best to date I’ve ever seen.

I attach the third star for the “SIMPLE ‘IN USE”, as always, Samsung is a leader for this, in great detail by detail, leaves nothing to chance, in fact, the menu is simple, fast and intuitive, and the guide is well written and has a simple explanation.

I attach the fourth star for “technological innovation”, if you think that this player has the USB port on the tv and internet records, I believe that none of its competitors such innovations.

The fifth and final star for “completeness” I do not want to be repetitive but this player has it all, read all formats that I know, has some innovative features such as internet TV and recording the USB port, so I think that propio not lack anything.

I was very happy with this product, it gave me three days ago for my birthday, is a very complete and advanced product, as you already saw and attach easily 5 stars.

The Council will in all and for all, the cost is not low as $ 250 and is around 300 Euros, but the quality features you see are endless, thanks to God as you understand I had a gift.
I apologize in advance if I have been long-winded introduction, but I wanted to dwell on the technology the way, to understand how we got today to have a gem like that.

I hope as always to be helpful and not to have bored, I wish my readers a good Sunday and I thank you in advance for letting me read.
Conclusion : BEAUTIFUL AND INNOVATIVE

BenQ Offers New High-Brightness DLP Projector

BenQ SH960.jpgBenQ has announced that its new top-of-the-line SH960 projector will be available in June. With a rated light output of 5,500 ANSI lumens, this high-brightness DLP projector will likely see use primarily in professional applications, but it's also an interesting option for someone who wants the big-screen benefits of projection in an environment that has a fair amount of ambient light.

The SH960 is a 1080p DLP projector with a rated contrast ratio of 3,000:1 and a dual-lamp design that includes a high brightness mode and an eco mode that extends lamp life by 50 percent. Horizontal and vertical lens shift are available, as is BenQ's Wall Color Correction feature that allows users to adjust the projector's output for natural-looking color on a tinted wall. The SH960 will have an MSRP of $6,999.

In other BenQ news, the company recently released two lower-priced 1080p DLP projectors geared more specifically at the home theater market. The W1100 ($1,499) has a rated brightness of 2,000 ANSI lumen, a rated CR of 4,500:1, and a 10-bit color processor. It includes dual 10-watt speakers and SRS WOW HD audio processing.

BenQ W1200.jpgThe step-up W1200 ($1,999) has a rated brightness of 1,800 ANSI lumen and a 5,000:1 rated contrast ratio. It features Advanced Color Wheel Coating technology to boost color saturation and uses frame interpolation technology to reduce film judder. The W1200 also has ISFccc certification.

Denon Announces 2011 Product Lineup

Denon DBP-2012UDCI.jpgDenon held its annual press luncheon today to announce its 2011 product line. As someone who primarily covers video-related products, I was most interested in the company's plans in the Blu-ray market. Well, Blu-ray was last on the agenda, and I followed the entire press conference via webinar to hear that the company has no new product announcements in that category. Yey.

It's actually not too surprising that the company isn't in a hurry to announce/release new Blu-ray players. At last year's event, Denon announced the DBP-1611UD and DBP-2012UDCI, which were slow to arrive to market and have only been available for a short time now. We did learn that Denon will phase out its ultra-high-end DVD-A1UDCI ($4,500) and DBP-4010CI ($1,999) and focus on the aforementioned 1611UD ($499) and 2012UDCI ($899.99) as its core offerings.

Both of those models are 3D-capable Blu-ray players that support universal disc playback, as well as Netflix VOD. YouTube access will soon be added via a long-awaited firmware update. The Denon rep said that YouTube is working on an update of its own to create a better user experience and that Denon decided to wait for that improvement to add the function, which should be offered in June.

Of course, most of the press conference centered on Denon's bread-and-butter, the A/V receiver market. The company announced a new series, called the IN-Command Series. "IN" stands for integrated network, and that describes Denon's philosophy for incorporating all of your analog, digital, handheld, and networkable sources into an easy-to use platform. Three new IN-Command models will be available in May: the AVR-2112CI ($599.99), AVR-2312CI ($799.99), and AVR-3312CI ($999.99). All include a new cosmetic design with a scaled-down front panel and a setup wizard, all allow for 3D passthrough, and all support DLNA and AirPlay streaming--among many other features.

The company will also release a quartet of lower-priced receivers that are not part of the IN-Command Series: The AVR-1312 ($249.99), AVR-1612 ($349.99), and AVR-1912 ($529.99) are slated for April release, while the AVR-1712 ($399.99) should arrive in June. These models also support 3D passthrough, and the AVR-1912 will include AirPlay streaming.

For a full overview of the new AVR lineup, as well as other Denon products, check out the press release on Page 2.

Hands-on Review: OPPO's First 3D Blu-ray Player

oppo-bdp93.jpgHomeTheaterReview.com has posted my full-length review of OPPO Digital's BDP-93. Not only is this OPPO's first 3D-capable Blu-ray player; it's also the company's first player to add streaming video-on-demand, courtesy of Netflix and Blockbuster.

Here's an excerpt from the review:

Fans of OPPO Digital's media players will tell you that the company offers the best of both worlds. In terms of product development and rollout, OPPO's approach is more like that of a high-end company: The goal is not to release a whole new product line every year and meet arbitrary deadlines; rather, the goal is to make sure that every product released meets high performance and quality standards.

The process involves careful selection of components and a lot of testing. Once the product arrives on the market, the company pays close attention to customer issues and works quickly to resolve them with firmware updates. At the same time, OPPO prices its products in the realm of the reasonable, perhaps a bit higher than the mainstream manufacturers but generally lower (often significantly so) than high-end specialty companies. That win-win combination has earned OPPO a loyal and passionate following that has been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new BDP-93, which replaces the acclaimed but now-discontinued BDP-83.

The BDP-93 is OPPO's first Blu-ray player to support 3D playback and streaming video-on-demand. Like its predecessor, the BDP-93 is a universal disc player that supports playback of the SACD, DVD-Audio, and HDCD formats, as well as AVCHD, MP4, DivX, MKV, FLAC, and WAV files. This Profile 2.0 Blu-ray player offers BD-Live Web functionality and BonusView/picture-in-picture playback, and it sports dual HDMI outputs, for compatibility with non-3D-capable AV receivers. The BDP-93 offers bitstream output and onboard decoding of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, with 7.1-channel analog audio outputs. OPPO's Web platform includes Netflix and Blockbuster OnDemand, and you can add the player to your network via a wired or wireless connection (a USB WiFi adapter is included). The BDP-93 has an MSRP of $499 and can be purchased directly via OPPO Digital's website or through authorized retailers like Amazon.

VUDU Now Streams Via Web Browser

VUDU Browser.jpgTo keep up with the video-on-demand Joneses, VUDU has added a new way to watch streamed content: via a Web Browser on your computer. The VUDU platform is already available on a number of Internet-connected HDTVs, Blu-ray players, and source components like the PlayStation 3 and Boxee Box. Now, you can check out the service right from your desktop or laptop by simply going to VUDU.com and selecting Watch Now. The service is compatible with Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.

VUDU offers pay-per-use VOD, meaning you pay a fee for each title that you rent or purchase (as opposed to a subscription service like the one offered by Netflix). The new Web-browser option includes access to all of the titles in VUDU's catalog, including new big-ticket releases, and the same rental fees and viewing windows apply. (To get more details on the VUDU service, check out our article Shopper's Guide: Choosing the Right Video-on-Demand App.)

What you don't currently get through the Web browser is VUDU's HD streaming (720p and 1080p) and 3D streaming.

CNET's report on this announcement adds that VUDU expects to add its streaming service to tablets like the iPad sometime this year, but no official date was offered.

Watching Internet TV and movies on your television set is becoming easy as pie now that an ever expanding number of Internet-enabled TV sets and Blu-ray players let users easily stream video from the Web to the big screen using a broadband connection. But if your ready to bite the bullet and get internet connected, then what do you need to consider before buying?

With an internet enabled tv set

blu ray player with internet browser

you can watch some stuff for free and some is a paid for service. For free are the usual Youtube videos, news, sports and more from Yahoo, photographs stored on Picasa and/or Flickr and you can listen to music from Internet radio stations such as Pandora and Slacker.  The good stuff such as latest movies and top TV shows are pay-per-view or, with Netflix, included with a subscription. Other online streaming services include Amazon Video on Demand, Blockbuster on Demand and Vudu.

There are of course other options apart from internet-enabled TVs and Blu-ray players. Other devices are available that offer access to streaming movies and online content including the TiVo HD DVR, Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PlayStation 3 which comes with built in Blu-ray player and browser.  There are also dedicated boxes that connect to an existing broadband service via Wi-Fi.  Some of the streaming services, such as Vudu also offer their own set-top boxes for a cost.

If you are considering upgrading your DVD player to a Blu-ray player then make sure you go for an Internet-enabled model as it will be less expensive than upgrading to a TV that is internet enabled but you will get the same results.  Boxes dedicated to streaming video are available from Roku, HD, $80, and MediaPoint, free with $99 worth of Blockbuster movie rentals.  AppleTV, $229, allows access to the iTunes video library, and Vudu has a box for $149.  Microsoft’s Xbox 360 and Sony’s PS 3 can show streaming content from Netflix.

So the best and cheapest option is (if you dont already have Blu-ray) to upgrade your DVD player and become instantly internet connected.
