Sharp Aquos LC-70LE732U Review

The Sharp Aquos LC70LE-732U is the largest television I’ve ever reviewed.  As a matter of fact, it’s the largest main stream flat panel TV on the market today.  Not only is it big in size, but it is big in quality too, delivering as solid picture, though there are a few flaws that will be mentioned later.  And, it’s a bit on the expensive side.

The Sharp Aquos LC 70LE732U is big.  There just aren’t two ways about it.  And, while there’s something to be said about having one of the biggest small screens available when it comes to watching your favorite flick, I can’t help but believe that there will be a limited market for such a large screen.  It’s going to be tough to sell such a large screen to people who can’t fit it into their living rooms.

With that being said, this television offered one of the better pictures that I’ve seen thus far from the LED based LCDs this year.  The movie preset was the most accurate out of the box, offering one of the most linear grayscales.  The color gamut is “Expanded” to show off the additional yellow pixel, but this creates a rather inaccurate palette of secondary colors. 

Black levels:  The Sharp offered a solid performance in this category, besting several of the other LCDs I’ve reviewed this year.  The blacks were deep and realistic, which really sets the tone for the movie by providing some great contrast to the colors.

Shadow details were vivid and sharp, which was a fantastic surprise, even if they were a bit brighter than I would have hoped.  The blacks were significantly less blue and way more accurate than many of the other LCDs I’ve seen, so kudos to Sharp for minimizing that particular issue.

Color Accuracy: Overall, the Sharp turned in a decent performance here.  The colors were solid, though there were a few issues worth mentioning.  Skin tones were definitely a plus, offering natural, realistic looking characters.  Green and blue looked a bit washed out, though. 

Uniformity: At first, I really didn’t notice any particular screen uniformity issues, but as I continued to watch it, the more noticeable a few issues became.  There wasn’t any particularly bothersome lightening in the corners or edges as I would have expected.  But, there were some obvious fluctuations in the vertical banding during bright motion scenes.  These were minor, however, and weren’t a deal breaker for me.     

Off angle viewing wasn’t terrible, but with such a large screen, it was pretty obvious to me that the sweet spot was much larger as well.  Simply put, in a normal household, it would be tough to place seating far enough away from center to cause a viewing issue. 

Bright lighting: The matte screen and solid light output made this particular unit very well suited to brightly lit viewing conditions.  I found it tough to actually find any ambient light glare or reflections in the screen at all. 

Standard-definition: Standard definition media playback was decent.  DVDs were replayed well, even if the details appeared somewhat softer than I had hoped. 

If there was a true drawback to this TV, it would be the quality of the audio output.  That’s really not saying much, though, since most flat panel televisions struggle in this category.  If you find that audio distortion and vibration is an issue for you, I would suggest that you add an external speaker system to your purchase.

When it comes to features, the Sharp really does shine. 

As far as design goes, the Sharp is a sharp looking set, but Sharp was smart to leave this set relatively unremarkable in the design category and let the sheer size of the TV speak for itself.  It’s mostly gloss black plastic with a rather normal sized bezel.  Really not much to write home about. 

 

The remote control is somewhat cheap looking and feeling.  It’s somewhat longer and thinner than many of the competitors’ clickers, but overall unsatisfactory.   I didn’t like the fact that the keys were somewhat small and tough to differentiate between under darkroom conditions, especially since Sharp didn’t add a backlight feature.  But, it is nice to see that you can control up to three peripheral pieces of equipment through this remote.

You get the gambit of goodies with this one including integrated Wi-Fi, plenty of audio and video streaming apps (although Amazon and YouTube are missing) and a few nice widgets.  The Vudu interface is easy to use and generally well received, but the main Aquos Net interface could use some work. 

At just under $3800, the Sharp LC-70LE732U is an expensive TV.  Of course, it is the largest flat panel TV on the market today, has a nice picture,  and offers plenty of extras; it’s tough in this economy to justify the extra expense when there are several 65 inch models that can offer the same deal for a lot less. 

Overall, I really enjoyed living large and reviewing the Sharp 70LE732U.  There’s no other television on the market today that allows you to bring the big screen home to your living room.  The picture was great, though the audio output left a lot to be desired.  But, I think that this will be a tough sell for Sharp as too many people will find it tough to either pay the money or fit this monster into their living rooms.

Sharp Aquos LC-22DV200E

Most TVs that get installed in second rooms - kitchens, conservatories, offices, bedrooms etc - are generally criminally underused. Not necessarily in terms of the sheer hours they?re watched for, but certainly when it comes to exploiting their full potential.

The main reason for this is simply that people don?t want to clutter up the space around their space-saving second TV with further boxes containing external sources. Which is precisely why products like Sharp?s LC-22DV200E make such great sense. For here you get a tidy, highly portable 22in LCD TV screen with a DVD slot cunningly tucked down its left side. So instead of, say, having to suffer the Jeremy Kyle show while you cook up a storm in the kitchen, you can stick on your favourite film instead, without having to mess your work surfaces up with an external DVD player.

The DVD deck has been niftily integrated into the 22DV200E, moreover, in that its inclusion hasn?t led to such a chunky rear end as we often see on combi TV products. In fact, the 22DV200E is quite a cutie aesthetically, with its glossy black finish, funky little stand and endearing arc along the bottom edge. If you get up close, its finish is a touch plasticky, but not offensively so.

Connections are a touch disappointing, though. For a start, unlike the 26in and 32in models in the DV200E range, the 22in model only has one HDMI input. Though to be fair, the inclusion of a DVD player within the TV?s own chassis reduces the need for more HDMIs to some degree.

It?s also disappointing, however, to find that a USB port on the DV200E?s rear is only there for Service use, and can?t be used for any multimedia purposes. Being able to play photos from USB memory sticks is always a handy trick for a second-room TV, in our opinion.

The TV isn?t wholly without multimedia functionality, though. For as well as a welcome D-Sub PC input, the built-in DVD deck is capable of playing JPEG photos, MP3 and WMA audio files, and standard def DivX video files burned onto DVD-R/RW or CD-R/RW discs. Plus, of course, as music CDs and DVD movies.

The 22DV200E?s screen is lit using conventional CCFL technology, and manages to squeeze an HD Ready pixel count of 1,366 x 768 into its reasonably small screen area. The TV also has a Freeview tuner, as we would expect - though this doesn?t extend to Freeview?s new HD platform.

Sharp Quattron TVs to get Pioneer Elite branding

Sharp and Pioneer have announced that they will jointly be resurrecting the Eite brand of TVs for the American market.

Elite was known in AV circles as being one of the top TV brands around, but this came to an end in March 2010, when Pioneer stopped making televisions and in the process waved goodbye to both Elite and Kuro branding.

But now Elite is back and will be the name of a new line-up of Sharp Quattron TVs which both companies hope will become part of the lucrative custom install market.

High-end brand

"As a leader in large-screen LCD TVs, we are excited to collaborate with Pioneer to bring a high-end LCD TV to the Elite consumer," explained John Herrington, Sharp's president of marketing in the US.

"The Elite brand is highly respected in the high-end market, and Sharp can deliver the quality and innovation that Elite customers demand."

It will be interesting how well received the new line of TVs will be. For a start, Pioneer is synonymous with plasma technology, so seeing the Elite branding on an LED TV may irk some.

And then there's the fact that neither Pioneer or Sharp will have their names on the sets, they will simply be called Elite.

What this news does mean, though, is that there could be a slim chance that the Kuro brand may well be next to be dusted down.

LED TVs have led to an unforeseen revolution in the world of televisions. Making the TVs slimmer than ever and their pictures clearer than those of the previous TVs, this LED technology has become one of the brainchildren that the semiconductor technology has produced, which ultimately turned the fate of household appliances. Display:

The LED Televisions are considered to give the best display of all the TVs. Their predecessors, which are the LCD TVs that used the CCFL backlight system have not produced excellent pictures and showed considerable dragging when it came to fast moving objects. But now, since the LEDs are used for backlighting, this is not seen so often. But even then, these LEDs are arranged along the edges of the TV, which gives an uneven luminosity and hence the pictures are not equally illuminated. Hence, Sharp has now come with a TV that has these LEDs spread all over the screen so that the whole screen is uniformly lit. This gives a perfect balance of the whites and blacks so that the contrast of the pictures will also be good. This system also provides great viewing angles and this means that you can watch high definition pictures from any corner of the room. Thus, in a concluding manner, it can be said that the display part of the  Sharp Aquos LC32LE600E LED LCD TV is the best thing you will find on it, and with such a good technology being used, optimum visual experience is guaranteed. The 32 inch screen, measured diagonally, is big enough for medium sized rooms and will be comfortable to watch high definition movies even from a distance.

Features:

When Sharp announced the details of the LE600E, there were a few complaints regarding the number of features that are contained in it. Normally, an LED TV has a very good number of features and new options. If you look at the LED TVs from Sony and Samsung, this fact is clearly observed. Surprisingly though, Sharp has not provided with many features on the LE600E. Only basic features, which are seen on almost all the LCD TVs today, are featured on the LE600E. This is probably due to the fact that this TV is priced lesser than the LED TVs from the two aforementioned companies. But, having said that, it would have been better if there were more features and the customers also would not mind its cost since they get the value for their money at the end of the day. But nevertheless, the few features that are seen here are in fact, very good and they will never let you down. Let us view the various features found on the Sharp LE600E.

Full HD 1080:
Like most of the latest LED TVs, the Sharp LC32LE600E LED Backlit LCD TV provides a widescreen output for you to enjoy your pictures with a movie like experience. A picture resolution of 1920 x 1080 has become very common nowadays and that resolution means that you can enjoy watching 1080p videos on the screen of your Sharp LE600E. This may also mean that the TV works well playing your HD videos off your high quality camcorders. You can connect your camcorder and play the movies in high definition. This is also probably one of those useful features that try and make the Sharp LE600E a buyable TV.

Processor:

The Aquos LC32LE600E 32-inch LED Television has a very special ability of distinguishing between the whites and the blacks. This means that there is no colour aberration of your pictures and they are played at their utmost quality. A 2 million: 1 contrast ratio is really staggering, but an LED TV is expected to bring you pictures of such high contrast. Although there is no option for you to connect your TV to the internet, either through WLAN or through the Ethernet port, there are still options left for you to connect the TV to your PC and then sync the music and video files, which can be viewed on the big screen comfortably. There are also options for you to connect the TV to an external sound system and there are ports available for both the 5.1 and the 7.1 channel systems. You also have the option to connect the TV to external media players like the DVD player, home theatre system and also the latest Blu Ray Player. Hence, entertainment is always with you. This makes the connecting of the LE600E a little better than its precursors, but there should have been a few more, just in order to attract more customers. But nevertheless, the things that are present are satisfactory.

Thus, the features section shows that Sharp LC32LE600E 32? Widescreen LED TV has a good number of features, if not high enough, that really boost up the performance and serviceability of the TV. These aforementioned features are clearly eco friendly, by consuming less energy and also at the same time, they are user friendly, making things easy for the users to make use of the LE600E.

Performance:

This might well be the most important facet of any TV or even for that matter, any electronic gadget. Sharp has always carried the good name for producing sharp images and also pretty sharp sounds. But is that a thing of the past or is the potential still with Sharp even after the introduction of the LED TV, which is widely known for low audio performance and also inconsistent picture performance? We shall see.

Video Performance of LC32LE600E:
As we have already discussed before, the one most striking feature of the Sharp LE600E is its video performance. The videos look really great on the LE600E. But, of late, there have been quite a few improvements in audio technology and most of the companies are now trying to improvise on their audio systems. Sharp has also done pretty much the same thing, by applying some new techniques like providing a set of speakers on the back side of the TV so that the sounds are reflected back to the front side, giving a very good audio experience. There are also options for you to connect the TV to external audio systems like the 5.1 channel and the 7.1 channel home theatre systems. This is also a recommended way of setting your TV since in that case you will get a much more solid acoustics from the LE600E. Hence, the audio has been really good this time from Sharp.

Interfaces:
Interfaces are one opportunity for any TV to show its mettle when it comes to its performance. The more are the number of interfaces, the better the TV is and its ability to work well with other similar entertainment oriented devices. Looking at the back side of the Sharp LE600E to find different interfaces or ports that are featured on it, you will find the following things there: one D Sub input, 4 HDMI inputs, which is really good, one component input, 1 SCART port, one composite input, one stereo phono, one optical S / PDIF output, one headphone output, a CL slot and a 3.5 mm mini jack audio input. Although this is a very pretty list, it is still surprising regarding the absence of the S video input and the DVI inputs. But, otherwise, the list is quite satisfactory. This really helps in hiking the performance of the Sharp LE600E, which is really good news to hear.

Concluding the performance aspect of the Sharp Le600E, it can be opined that though this may not be a great performance that an LED TV can give and also though it is not the best available TV in the market, the Sharp LE600E has still got in it something for everyone and all of that at a very reasonable and luring price tag, which is really a nice effort put in by Sharp. The bottom line is that the performance of the LE600E is not the best but it still is very good.

Power Consumption:

The Sharp LE600E has received many compliments from its users regarding this fact, the Power consumption of its TVs. Talking about the LED televisions in particular, the Sharp LE600E is considered to be one of the least power consuming TVs. With a power consumption of just 0.3 W in the standby mode, it can be said that the LE600E is an eco friendly TV. It is a very good employee since it works better than its counterparts and that too for a low salary. This is all owing to the truth that the LED lights that are the main parts of the LED TV do not actually need much energy for their working. Another good thing that is worth noticing here is that the TV is also manufactured by using fewer materials that are supposed to cause harm to the environment and also to us human beings, like mercury for an example. Nothing else could do it better and none can afford to ask for more.

Verdict:

The Sharp LE600E is one of the very buyable LED televisions. It has a very captivating design that comes with a very good colour combination. As we have discussed earlier, the display is solid enough and the display technology used here is fine, though it is not the best thing available. The main problem is with the features section. There are not many features for Sharp to boast about. But then, the existing ones are not bad and they provide excellent output from your TV. The new technology used by Sharp here is really a commendable one and it may take the LE600E to a whole new other level. The performance is also good, but. Both the audio and video came out to be very good. Even though the video technology is one step behind the latest one available, this can be accepted since this TV is it is not the best thing in the market for sure. Having said this, this TV is quite cheap when compared to most of the LED televisions you will find in the market, especially from likes of Sony, LG and Samsung. But overall, it is a decent little TV for its low price tag. But, in case you are not impressed by this one, remember that you always have better options in the market.

Display:
The LC46LE600E has a screen size of 46? and is also available in 40” and 32”. As discussed earlier, the display system is LED. This means that the screen is LCD and this is backlit with the light emitting diodes or the LEDs. In the normal case, this meant that the screen is lit with all the diodes concentrated at one position, that is, the central part of the screen. Hence, the lighting was not uniform and this was clearly evident from the display. The brightness and the colour contrast faded gradually. This also meant that the TVs were not having very good viewing angles. But, Sharp came up with a good idea of spreading these LEDs. Hence, the Aquos LE600E is uniformly lit and therefore there is nothing like fading of pictures at the corners and the edges of the screen.

Thus, now the TV has very good viewing angles and so you can watch high quality pictures with pretty much the same luminosity at all the points of the screen. And also along with this, the brightness of the screen is quoted to be 45 cd / m2, with almost the same levels in all the areas of the screen. This is pretty good for an LED TV. Hence, it can be concluded that almost everything is good about the display of the Aquos LE600E and you will also be comfortable watching it.

Features:

The Aquos LC46LE600E 46-inch LED Television comes with a few features that catch the attention of the buyers. These features are such that an unbiased customer will shift towards this TV after having an idea of its features. Although there is not much of a difference between the conventional LCD and these new LED televisions, a few alterations make these LED televisions a little better and hence they have an edge over their LCD counterparts. Let us peek into each of the features and applications of the Sharp Aquos LE600E.

Processor:

Stupefying Contrast:
The colour contrast of the Aquos LE600E Full HD LED TV is pretty much on the higher side and the special contrast feature that this TV has is responsible for making the videos look more natural and colourful. This feature means that the television can produce almost all the colours. Although this may seem normal, this feature is not so common among the normal televisions. Many televisions cannot produce all the colours with great vividness. But the Aquos LE600E can do it easily. The Aquos LC46LE600E proudly claims that it has a contrast ratio of a staggering 2,000,000:1. And also added to this, the illumination is almost uniform all over the screen and is stays constant for up to 90 percent of the original contrast, even after a long time. This fabulous feature is only possible with the use of LEDs and Sharp has almost used them perfectly.

Super Green:
This is a unique feature introduced by Sharp in order to produce greater display and image quality. This one is nothing but just a combination of LED backlights and an X GEN panel that produces great picture quality while consuming minimum power. When you compare this latest technology with the one that is used in the LCD televisions, this one looks a lot better. While the LCD televisions use something called the CCFL backlight system, the LED TVs use the LED and in particular, the Super Green combination that is used in the Aquos LE600E is far better in producing great backlight even while consuming very low power. The more are the interfaces, the more is the entertainment. When it comes to the Sharp Aquos LC46LE600E, there are a good number of interfaces that help you connect to different electronic devices and synchronise with them in order to exchange data. You can connect to a computer, a DVD player and also to an external audio system like either the 5.1 or the 7.1 channel audio system and so on. Sufficient number of ports and interfaces make the Aquos more useful than ever.

Connectivity:
Another good facility provided by Sharp is that you can connect the Aquos LE600E to your computer and then exchange media between them. There is a separate cable that is provided to you along with the TV in the kit. All you need to do is just plug the cable in both the sockets and you will find that the computer is synced with the TV. Sharp has stated that it has made synchronisation simpler by providing various syncing options. This means that connection to your PC became simpler and faster. The only thing that is missing here is the WLAN facility that allows you to connect to the internet. But since this is a new model, we expect that it may soon be added by Sharp.

Performance:

Without any doubt, the LED televisions are expected to give superior performances when compared to their LCD counterparts. Moreover due to the latest technology that has been featured in the Aquos LE600E, the expectations are even higher. Will Sharp be able to produce really sharp images? Well, let us see.

Video Performance:
The Videos look stunning on the Aquos LE600E LED LCD TV. This one can show a great contrast between the colours and particularly between the white and the black, when a normal LCD TV or for that matter, even the conventional LED TV cannot even dream of doing it. Due to the fact that there are multiple LEDs behind the screen, the colour contrast and brightness distribution are uniform and hence the overall video is balanced very nicely. The same performance can never be achieved with a TV that has a single light source. The X Gen Panel is a special feature that you will find in the Aquos LE600E. This enables the light from the sources to fall uniformly and thereby giving an excellent video performance and also a great spectacle especially when you are watching HD movies. The optical picture control feature also adds to the beauty of the pictures on the Aquos LC46LE600E. Since the television is a bit cheaper than normal, Sharp has gone with the second best video technology that is presently available. You will find better video technology on the highly priced TVs from the other companies in the television market. But nevertheless, this second ranked technology is not so old and is also almost as good as the best one. Hence, you get great pictures with the Aquos LE600E.

Audio Performance:
As you would expect from a slim and flat television, like the LED TV, the audio is not that great. It is sad to know the fact that since the TVs are so flat nowadays, there is not much place left for good quality speakers. It must be accepted that at present there is no latest audio technology available that can produce excellent sound quality even while being slim and sleek. But the audio is not that bad. When you look at the other LED TVs in the market, produced by the best of the companies, you will notice that they have similar stories to share. So, there is no other go when it comes to the audio. The sound looks more one dimensional when you are watching movies. This is the only problem but otherwise, the audio is fine.

Hence, it can be said that even though this is not the best performance that an LED TV can give you, it still is a very appreciable effort put in by Sharp in giving the best possible performance within the price range. You can always go for better performing LED TVs from many other companies, but this may cost you a lot. Hence, for a normal user, the Aquos LE600E is more than enough, especially since it is a bit less costly.

Power Consumption:
This is another area where the Sharp Aquos LE600E has gained a lot of attention from the public. When you talk about the LED televisions in particular, the LE600E is claimed to be the least power consuming TV if ever there was one. As the TV has to maintain its slim body, it consumes less energy and works efficiently, just like us human beings. With a power consumption of just 89 W, the Aquos LC46LE600E is very eco friendly and also pretty much very monetarily friendly since it saves you lots of bucks. It consumes even lesser power when it is in the off mode, wherein the power consumption drops to almost zero. All this stuff is due to the fact that the LED lights do not need much electricity for their working. The TV is also made of fewer materials that cause harm to both the environment and human beings, like mercury. To achieve this, Sharp has applied for the European Commission’s EU Eco label. So, your pocket stays a little heavier all the time.

Warranty:

The customers of the Sharp Aquos LC46LE600E are provided with a parts and labour warranty for a period of one year from the original date of purchase. A warranty card will be issued at the time of the purchase of the TV and it has to be produced again at the service centre if you wish to avail the warranty service. If any of the parts of the TV malfunctions, then you can either take the TV yourself to the service centre or call the expert for help. For simple problems, you will be advised directly on the phone and you yourself can solve the problem with the guidance of the experts. But of the problem is felt as a more complex one, then it will be taken care of by a trained technician. The complete terms and conditions are mentioned in the warranty card itself and the users are requested to go through it thoroughly at the time of purchasing.

Verdict:

The very look of the Sharp Aquos LE600E makes it a buyable LED television. The very attractive design of it makes it look very apt for any kind of environment. As we have already seen, the display is very good and the technology used is fine, although not the best available. And also though the features are not many in number, they are good enough to be ranked among the very best. The new technology used by Sharp is quite interesting and it is definitely going to take the Aquos LC46LE600E to higher levels. The performance aspect of the TV is more than satisfactory. Both the audio and video came out to be very good. Even though the video technology is one step behind the latest one available, this can be accepted since this TV is quite cheaper when compared to the other LED televisions in the market, especially from LG and Samsung. But on the whole, it is a pretty good LED television, if you are especially looking for one. But if you plan to have just an LCD TV, you can look at other options as well since the LED televisions are a bit costlier than the LCD TVs.

Is Vizio Equal to Sony, Samsung, LG, and Sharp?

I was always under the inpression that SONY did not produce their own components rather they designed a product based on the best available components and then marketed it. Theoretically giving you the best product available. I may be wrong but that was my perception. I am not to sure of the story with Panansonic but back in the late ’80s and early 90s when I worked in retail selling sound systems and hi-fi they were considered the best for the price at the higher end of the scale in regards to their TV (I have 2 from that period, to date both work perfectly) and Technics all I say is SL1210s.


Vizio is Amtran electronics, which is a greybox provider, which is basically they make electronics for companies on contract, but this is typically your 2nd and 3rd tier manufactures, such as Symphonic, Insignia, Westinghouse, etc. Not major manufactures. The misconception came from the fact that Amtran has a factory they share with LG, and they have teamed together in some other joint ventures but that does not mean they are the same product.



Using the logic that most people use, Samsung and Sony are the exact same, since they share factories. In fact so is LG Philips or for a while, Toshiba and Panasonic. Sharing factories is common nowadays because they cost billions and years to create these TV technologies.



Anyhow, I would say no to Vizio due to their warranty practices. If it’s out of warranty or you don’t have the box you are basically out-of-options with them. It’s up to you to get it to them, (around $100 shipping for a large set) they have the right to deny service if it’s not in the original box and the flat rate on large sets is $1100. Sharp Aquos LC32GP1U 32-Inch LCD HDTV 1080p Gaming

I almost got the LC32GP1U‘s brother, the D62U. I wanted all HD formats/resolutions up to and including 1080p. After learning about the gaming model, I quickly researched it. On a leap of faith, I bought it. The price was less than the D62u!

This Sharp AQUOS displays content through all ports in 1080p. This includes the component ports! Now that I have it, it will be impossible to go back to a lesser TV.

I attached the stand to the TV and configured the TV. It took around 10 minutes. Assembly was easy and the directions understandable. First, I connected a PS3 using monster component cables from an older PS2. The output resolution on the PS3 was set to 1080p and WOW!

The image on this TV is amazing! I watched a few 1080p PS3 demos and blu-ray trailers and watched/ played in total amazement. Watch the Black Hawk Down trailer in 1080p. You almost can’t believe it!

I tried the Vyper Drive gaming interface with the side inputs (using component) and it ran smoothly. There was no lag! The 10,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio and 6ms response time help produce this quality. I played the Motorstorm (720p) and Ninja Gaiden (1080p) game demos. Wow!

Some believe 1080p is not much different than 720p for this size TV. Well, I noticed a real difference between resolutions on this Sharp AQUOS.

This TV has an arsenal of HD ports. You get 2 component inputs, 3 HDMI inputs, and one DVI input.

Comcast is free at my place through the wall. I used the coaxial input on the TV and found several HD channels including all local feeds. I watched pro surfing(MOJO), the NHL playoffs (NBC HD), and the World Series (FOX HD) in awesome 720p and 1080i formats. The Discovery HD theatre channel is especially impressive with stunning visuals 24/7. HDNET and TNT HD are fantastic as well.

I really worried about 480i programming from regular TV. To my surprise, it’s great! I still will calibrate further, but this TV is good out of the box. Black levels are very satisfying. No picture-in-picture is my only real beef, but it’s nothing major. There are just so many positives to this Sharp AQUOS.

I hope my excitement wasn’t too overwhelming. This TV is worth it. Do not miss it if you have the opportunity to get it. It is everything you want. It has all formats… 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. Plus, there as so many ports!

I recommend the Sharp Aquos LC32GP1U to anyone who loves playing video games at the highest resolutions, and watching HD movies and TV!

Sharp Finally Launches 3D TVs and Blu-ray Players

With seemingly every TV manufacturer scrambling to release a 3DTV, only a few companies are being left behind in the sad, boring world of 2D. Toshiba caught up to the pack with its 3D Blu-ray player and 3DTV launch last week, and Thursday at CEDIA, Sharp joined the party with its first 3D HDTVs

Sharp's LE925 series is immediately available, and comes in 60- and 52-inch models, the LC-60LE925UN and LC-52LE925UN. The TVs use Sharp's four-color technology (adding yellow to the standard red, green, and blue), which Sharp said makes the picture brighter and solves the dimming problem that is sometimes created by 3D glasses. Each of the LE925 series TVs will come with two pairs of 3D glasses, and the glasses can be used to convert 3D content to 2D—making it possible to watch shot-in-3D content in 2D with the push of a button on the glasses.

The 925 Series comes with Sharp's AQUOS Net Service, which allows the TVs to stream Netflix, Vudu, and other services using the bundled Wi-Fi adapter. There's also a USB media player on the devices for easy playback of external media.

To go with its new TVs, Sharp also launched two new Blu-ray players at CEDIA, the BD-HP90U and BD-HP80U. Each one plays 1080p video, and connects to the Web to stream Netflix, Pandora, Vudu and more. When paired with a Sharp 3D HDTV (say, the ones launched today), the players offer software-based performance enhancements and connectivity through a single HDMI cable. Both players support 7.1-channel surround sound, and the attractive players can be mounted horizontally or vertically to save space.

The LC-60LE925UN is in stores now for $5,299.99, while the LC-52LE925UN is available for an MSRP of $4,199.99. The BD-HP90U and BD-HP80U will be available this month for $499.99 and $429.99, respectively.
