With the disappearance of the once-ubiquitous tube from televisions, manufacturers are embracing a race towards the ultimate in thinness. The Twiggy of this generation of televisions, at a mere 0.76cm thick, is perhaps the C9000 3D LED TV from the Samsung Electronic Co, Ltd.

As a bonus, it is also the first in the world with a touch-screen remote control. The writers of the press release have obviously been boning up on their watch lore as they refer to the stainless steel frame as a bezel.

The speakers are embedded in the stand and, for a limited time, Samsung is offering Singapore purchasers the world’s first 3D Blu-ray player, the Samsung BD-C6900 (worth SGD799), as well as two pairs of adult-sized rechargeable 3D glasses and two pairs of child-sized rechargeable 3D glasses (worth SGD796).

Samsung has also announced a unique service, the Samsung Concierge Service, which is meant to ensure the perfect installation experience. The 55-inch Samsung LED 9000 Series is available at selected consumer electronics retail stores, and Samsung Flagship stores, where applicable.
